We’re two friends living in south London, blogging about our efforts to do up our houses.

We both write about homes for a living, but this blog is about our own houses, what we like, what we’re thinking about doing, what’s worked… and what hasn’t.

We were going to tell you something about ourselves but there’s a copy of one of our favourite interior mags lying around, so we thought we’d just answer one of their probing interviews instead. These questions were put to Robin Day. Here are our answers:

My Friend…

How do you define style?

Thank you, what a lovely idea that I define style. If only Scott Schuman had met me.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

A squirrel, I’ve always been very good at seeking food from hard to reach places.

What was your worst subject in school?

Chemistry. No, Maths. No, Chemistry.

Your house is burning down, what do you grab?

Apart from humans and the cat? It had better be something light. My favourite books and tiny blue Heath Ceramics vase plus any meaningful photographs I can get my hands on.

What star sign are you?

How do you define style?

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Cat. Easy. During bad times I lie down next to the cat and beg her to swap places. But she’s no fool, and doesn’t respond.

What was your worst subject in school?

The compulsory farming lessons in my country school.

Your house is burning down, what do you grab?

Really afraid of fire, but I get that this is hypothetical and not really about that, so… notebooks, Grandma’s necklace, the bear my Mum knitted, those pictures I just had framed. Will I have time to fill a bin bag?

What star sign are you?

I was actually asked that at a job interview. I’m a home-loving, tetchy Cancerian.

The best ‘abouts’ are the intriguing ones.
The ones that make you think “I still don’t know who they are, but I like them.”

We have to write some ‘abouts’ for our new website….. I am doing my research, and have just discovered there are some really interesting people and blogs out there.

It is a disaster….apart from dipping in and out of lifestyle mags, I will now be losing hours of my life dipping into blogs and sites like this.

Can’t take a laptop into long hot soaky bath though, or read blogs while sitting on a lawn on a sunny day……….

      Thanks Candida
I totally agree about time… for example I’ve just got lost looking at the locations on your site. And as for keeping up with favourite blogs, I’ve pushed bedtime back to about 1am most nights. It’s an addiction.

Dear Beautiful Dundee, thanks so much for your comment. You’ve made both of our days. That’s just what we were aiming for when we started the blog, so it’s lovely to know that occasionally we manage to make someone other than ourselves laugh x

I really love your blog and even more so as my partner and I get close to settlement for the purchase of our own Victorian Terrace in Hither Green (we can’t afford to stay in East Dulwich). Can you tell me who you got your kitchen (cabinet maker) and kitchen diner extension built through (architects etc etc). Thanks, Adrian.
