Swan news

July 17, 2012

In Brixton Village over the weekend we passed by the shop Brixi with a ton of these in the window.

Good grief, I thought, someone found the mother load of vintage swans at a market and is now selling them for £45 a piece. My mind later swung between fury over another human’s great find and the weighing up of whether such a sum could be spent. Until a penny dropped. That dusky grey-lilac is not a vintage shade!

No sir these are brand new swans created by Volpe and Volpe, a company started by Trish Scorgie. Her collection of ‘deconstructed heritage ceramics’ are made in Stoke On Trent and also includes string holders…

…and will be launching some of its own new designs soon.

OOh my nan had a swan just like that! Don’t they look brilliant grouped together?

They looked even better in the shop window, but I had a camera fail sadly.

Those swans are so stunning. But could I afford to spend almost £300 on pretty ceramic swans. Sadly the answer (for this life at least) is no.
